Finding A Boston Terrier Puppy
So you've decided a Boston Terrier is for you. The first step is to do your research.
Sadly, there are many puppy mills posing as reputable breeders along with many online scams. There are also 'fad colour' breeders ready to take advantage of those less informed.
The purebred Boston Terrier, as defined by the ANKC breed standard, comes in three colours. These colours are as follows:
- Black with white markings
- Seal with white markings
- Brindle with white markings.
Seal appears black however has a red cast when viewed in the sunlight or in bright light. None of these colours appear dilute, though there are varying shades of brindle. All have black pigment.
Please refer to the photo provided depicting the beautiful colour variety WITHIN the Breed Standard. Our thanks to Jani Martin (USA) for creating a clear image for Boston enthusiasts to appreciate, gain knowledge and further understanding of what to look for when looking for their Boston fur baby.
Be aware, reach out to different online forums for conversations about this most wonderful breed of dog. Be sure to ask questions, inquire about the health testing undertaken by the breeder, make arrangements to meet the parent dogs or mother of your puppy. You may also need to be patient as breeders will often have a wait list.
A great place to start your search is right here on our website where you will find an alphabetical Breeders Listing of our members complete with contact information.
